Nagaland

 located in the far north-eastern part of India. It borders the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam to the north, Burma to the east and Manipur to the south.

Plenty of hills, peaks and streams of Nagaland still boast of their virginity. The heavy rainfall causes immense growth of vegetation, and are covered with hundreds of species of orchids, and white and red rhododendron.For adventurous enthusiasts willing to set out to try something exciting, Dzukou valley and Japfu peaks offer them a not to be missed opportunity of trekking. The snow capped Himalayan peaks are like paradise here at Dzukou and Japfu. Besides, a walk into the famous wildlife sanctuary, Intaki wildlife sanctuary open a diverse and immense wild world before wildlife lovers. The sanctuary being the single home to hoolock baboon, the only gibbon in India, also has wild animals like Elephant, Mithun, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Flying Squirrel, Tiger, Wild Dog, Sloth Bears are its prme inhabitants. The plenty of peaks and valleys like Japfu peak and Dzukou valley are heaven for nature lovers. Pervading wild flowers everywhere serves as a sumptuous feast to one's eye. Witnessing the diverse colour of their tradition, culture and lifestyle while being at Nagaland is one of the most striking activities that will fascinate an avid tourist.

Dzukou valley : 
Dzukou valley

Carpet of wild flowers spreading throughout the Dzukou valley and many of its peaks and natural caves are quite inviting for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts like trekkers.

Japfu Peak : 
15 km south of Nagaland, Japfu peak is the second highest peak of Nagaland. Famous for its natural beauty, the peak gives trekkers the best possible trekking terrain to cherish. Exploring this snow capped peaks are a great joy.


Kohima :
Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, is surrounded by the beautiful hills. Kohima war cemetery and state museum, beyond the natural view of the beautiful peaks, are two of the the most popular attraction.The town of Kohima is located on the top of a high ridge and the town serpentines all along the top of the surrounding mountain ranges as is typical of most Naga settlements.
'Kohima village' called 'Bara Basti' or 'large village',which is the second largest village in Asia forms the northeastern part of Kohima urban area today. The Bara Basti is divided into 'khels' or localities. There are four of them, namely - Tsütuonuomia, Lhisemia, Dapfütsumia and Pfuchatsumia. They are termed shortly as T, L, D, and P Khel respectively.


Intaki Wildlife Sanctuary : 
Discovering the untouched jungle of Intaki wildlife sanctuary and its wild inhabitants like Elephant, Mithun, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Flying Squirrel, Tiger, Wild Dog, Sloth Bear are full of wildlife wonder. Besides, the park is sole home to Hoolock Baboon, the only Gibbon in India.

Reaching there
By Air : Dimapur is the only airport, 74 km from Kohima, which takes approx 3-4 hours drive. Dimapur is connected to Delhi and Kolkata airport, where international as well as domestic tourists can land off, and can catch flight for Dimapur. From Dimapur, one can either hire taxi or can take bus to reach Kohima.

By Rail : Dimapur, on the main line of north-eastern frontier railway is the main railhead of Nagaland. From Dimapur, one can reach easily to Kohima by taking 3-4 hours drive.

By Road : By taking national highway 39 from Dimapur, one can reach to Kohima. Hiring a taxi at Dimapur for Kohima could cost between Rs. 400-500.
