Manali is an important hill station in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India, near the northern end of the Kullu Valley.
Manali is administratively a part of the Kullu district, with population of approx. 30,000. The small town was the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and, from there, over theKarakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin.
Manali is situated at the northern end of theKullu Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. Manali has spectacular vistas of snow laded peaks and wooded slopes. The river Beas gushes along its rocky treks amid grassy surroundings, layered with wild flowers and wagtails hop along from stone to stone along the stream's edge. The lined orchards and fairy-tale forests of deodar offers marvellous walks.A staging point for a number of treks (Beas Kund, Chandrakhani Pass) and sports such as white-water rafting, Manali is also on the road to Ladakh via the valley of Lahaul and Spiti and rohtang pass which is main attraction near manali.

Manali Wildlife Resource
Manali in Himachal Pradesh is the most beautiful destination with salubrious terrain, climate and heights. This has given a growing scope to variety of vegetation, wild animals and birds at different places and levels. The variety of forests like sal, rhododendron, oak, fir, deodar, birch, and pines are the pride of Manali. These forests shelter for large number of wild animal and birds.
Wildlife among which some rare species like the musk deer, ibex, thar, Himalayan brown bear and snow leopard are still found here. The river Beas offers ideal fishing grounds for trout and masheer.
To protect and conserve its ecosystem, Manali has declared a reserved area - the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary.

Manali Wildlife Sanctuary
Located about 2 km from the Manali town in the picturesque valley of Manali, the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary is reputed for its variety of flora and fauna and breathtaking scenic beauty. Alpine lush green pastures and glaciers beyond gallant thatch beckons the tourists from all around. Spread in an area of 31.80 sq km, the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary houses - Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan Palm Civet, Barking Deer, Flying Fox, Goral, Indian Hare, Stripped Hyena, Leopard, Himalayan yellow throated Marten, Serow, Kashmir flying Squirrel and Himalayan Tahr.
The sanctuary has marvelous trekking routes and also have facilities for camping in the wild. The gushing streams fascinating alpine pasture and high snow covered peaks provide a celestail pleasure to the tourists. 
Vashist Hot Water Springs and Temple: 
Around 3 km from Manali, across the Beas river is Vashist, a small village with natural sulphur springs. Modern bathhouses, with Turkish-style showers, have the hot water piped into them for the convenience of the visitors who come here to benefit from the medicinal properties. Vaishisht, also boasts a pair of old stone temples, opposite each other above the main square. Dedicated to the local patron saint Vashista, the smaller of the two opens on to a partially covered courtyard, and is adorned with elaborate woodcarvings. Those lining the interior of the shrine, blackened by years of oil-lamp and incense smoke, are particularly fine. The temple tanks are underground hot-water/sulfur springs.
Solang Valley popularly known as Snow Point, is 13 km northwest of Manali and famous for its 300-meter ski lift. It is a picturesque spot and offers splendid views of glaciers and the snow-capped mountains. Jagatsukh, the former capital of Manali, is also an important spot.

About 16 km from Manali at the start of the climb to the Rohtang Pass, are the  Rahalla Falls at an altitude of 2,501 m.
Rozy Falls: 
On the way to Rohtang amazing water fall worth seeing. this water fall looks amazing between the high hills.
 
Zana Falls: 
15 Kms from Naggar and 35 Kms from Manali, at Zana Village, beautiful Water Fall is worth visiting. The valley provides amazing views. There is one water fall on the road side and two other water falls which are not much explored by tourists and are amazing. Moreover Traditional Himachali food is available here at small hut like shops.

Solang valley :
It  is a side valley at the top of the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India 14 km northwest of the resort town Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass, and is known for its summer and winter sport conditions. The sports most commonly offered are parachuting, paragliding, skating and zorbing.
Giant slopes of lawn comprise Solang Valley and provide it its reputation as a popular ski resort. A few ski agencies offering courses and equipment reside here and operate only during winters.
Reaching Manali


Air      : Bhuntar is the nearest airport from Manali. From here one can take a bus or taxi to reach Manali.
Rail   : The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar. From here one can take a bus or taxi to reach Manali.
Road : Taxis, cars and other modes of transportation are available at Manali. Manali is well connected to all the parts of Himachal Pradesh.
